Web 2.0 Tools
Below is an assignment for the University of South Carolina's Graduate Class EDET 703 Design and Development Tools II. The point of this assignment was to investigate Web 2.0 tools. By definition, Web 2.0 tools are intended for the user to create content for others.
For my project, I used tinkercad.com. Tinker Cad is a website for building 3D objects. The site offers tutorials as well as tools to construct a basic 3D object. I chose to find a web tool 2.0 that was outside my usual skill set. I built the 3D sign below after taking several tutorials to gain a better understand of how to use tinkercad's 3D interface. Once I finished I found that these objects can be exported for printing or imported to a website, as seen below.
Tinkercad does not offer dedicated hosting services. If I shared the link to my creation, you would be able to manipulate it. An open edit link is excellent for team 3D design; however, it is not a hosting service. To embed my 3D design below so you could view it in 3D without editing it, I needed to find another web 2.0 tool. In this case, sketchfab.com is a 3D object blogging site. I uploaded my tinkercad.com design to sketchfab to host the actual 3D design instead of a 3D image. I was also able to print out the object and include a picture of the 3D printed object below.
