What is theater?

Theater is anything involved with the production of a performance.

This includes:
  • Acting
  • Directing
  • Writing
  • Producing
  • Choreography
  • Stage Management
  • Technical theater
  • And much, much, more

Where did theater start?

Theater dates back to the festival of Dynosis in Athens Greece around the 6th century BC.

Greece still has influence on theater to this day.

Many of the terms used in theater to this day are derived from Greek words.

Orchestra, proscenium, and scene are just a few of these common words.

Actors to this day are called thesbians. In honor of the writer and first actor Thesbis.
